What You're Really Doing When You Talk to AI
Part one
It's not a search box
Typing into an AI assistant feels like typing into a search bar. It isn't. A search bar matches your words to pages that already exist. An assistant reads your words and writes a brand new answer, guessing at whatever you left unsaid.
A better mental model: you're briefing a new teammate. They're fast and they've read a huge amount. But they can't see your screen, your files, or your intent. They can only act on what you actually tell them.
